Web Design
Design Notes
Jan McDonald and Cathy Sund, sisters and co-owners of A New Look Color & Hair Design Studio, asked me to design their first website in 2009. At the time I was eager to teach myself how to build websites and looked forward to a summer break project. My experience building this first site from scratch is when I knew that I had to make web design a career!
The collaboration with Jan and Cathy, who are also my friends, was great. They gave me free rein to design to my heart’s content. The finished product was modern and informative. We promoted their hair care team as well as their services and products. The site also made it easy for potential clients to find them and locate their specialized products.
When we re-built our second site, I used the same template and hosting company as previously used for Pup Portrait Studio. Jan and Cathy again gave me free rein to create a simple, user-friendly site. Our site was live until a couple of years ago. When the time is right, we'll build a new site to reflect the many changes in Jan's hair salon.
To see a PDF copy of the second website I built for Jan and Cathy, click this bold link to view it: A New Look Color & Hair Design Studio. I loved this site, and I'm forever grateful for the learning opportunities these wonderful sisters offered me. The PDF doesn't give justice to one of my favorite, fledgling designs, but the site is a foundation for my design career and an important milestone project for my portfolio.
If you’re looking for friendly, service-oriented hair care from master stylists, please call Jan McDonald or her team at (239) 403-3773 for an appointment and free consultation. You'll love their individual attention in their relaxing, comfortable studio!
Versatility is my strength and passion.
Finally – My Next Chapter!
Welcome and thank you for visiting my web and digital design portfolio. I’m Beth (Beth A. Maxwell – BAM), and I’m glad you’re here!
Many great things have happened for me in the last several years. My dreams to become a graphic designer are now a reality. After almost 28 years as a public-school educator (two master’s degrees in education and 24 years in two school districts), I was blessed with the opportunity to become a full-time student. During my semi-retirement in Naples, Florida, I studied digital design software to enhance my skills and to transition to my next, professional chapter. Even more exciting – I’m looking forward to combining my journalism and communication skills from my first degree with my graphic design passion to help you promote your passions.
Please contact me when you’re ready to talk about a new website, your plans to revise your current site, graphic design ideas, or if you need help with using or understanding technology.
I’m looking forward to collaborating with you.
